Relationship talk – it is time to address the imbalance

Dear Person on the Internet,

I really need to get this off my chest:

There is a glaring imbalance in our relationship.

I am in no way suggesting that we break up, but I think the inequality needs to be addressed.

Just some of the things I do for you EVERY SINGLE DAY:

  • Sort through huge volumes of news reports and present to you the stories that appear to be legitimate journalism on important international matters.
  • Recruit accomplished, high-integrity scientists, engineers, and mathematicians and task them with documenting facts and critical context regarding the most important issues – just for YOU!
  • Edit articles from that amazing team to ensure that they adhere to my tight editorial guidelines (no sensationalism, scientific approach to research, comprehensive attribution, etc.).
  • Write articles and posts intended to elicit LOLs or at least encourage upward movement of the outside edges of your mouth.
  • Ensure there is a news platform that you can always trust to offer you extremely accurate and transparent news, and at which you can express your opinions without facing vitriol from narrow-minded trolls.

Suffice to say that I put a LOT into this relationship every single day.

Now, I do not ask you to take out the trash.

I enjoy doing my own laundry (despite all the pink undershirts).

I can get my own coffee.

I do not need from you any gifts, quality time, acts of service, physical touch, or words of affirmation … although a little of the latter would be appreciated from time to time.

I ask but one thing from you to make our relationship whole: BIG Media membership.
