- You love sensationalism. Hey, I get it; “450,000 NEW CASES! WE ARE ALL DOOMED!” gets the blood pumping far better than our cerebral approach of “Here is the latest scientifically valid data on vaccine effectiveness and severe outcomes from COVID”.
- You do not care about what is actually going on in the world around you. OK, that is fair. No judgment here … but you may want to speak with a professional therapist about it.
- You would rather read articles written by recent journalism graduates looking to impress their bosses by shocking you into reading with exceptional cherry picking of data and “expert” testimony … than articles by internationally renowned scientists whose primary objective is to educate.
- You believe that the news is free … and may not have considered that having advertisers pay for the news that you absorb translates to tremendous costs in misspent time and lack of useful knowledge. Plus, you need to save that $2 per week for smokes and blow.
- The idea of joining a growing community of critical thinkers who engage in constructive discussion is just not for you. Echo chambers can be nice and cosy, after all.
- You would miss the trolls. What would life in the 21st century be without having someone with little or no knowledge in a subject derail what otherwise would have been meaningful discussion with personal attacks and outrageous statements?
- You can tell that we operate with an agenda … OK, you got us there. I admit that we have a clear agenda that deeply affects our news coverage. That agenda is documenting truth with utmost integrity, and providing a platform on which people can engage in productive discussion regarding the most pressing matters.
