Dear Media Friends,
PLEASE stop using phrases such as “the fight to stop climate change”, “climate change deniers”, and especially “climate denier”. Seriously – you are embarrassing yourselves.
Anyone who made it past Grade 6 or who pays minimal attention to the lessons of history should be aware that climate change is a naturally occurring process on this planet that cannot be stopped by humans.
Of course, we should continue to work on developing strategies and technologies that minimize pollution of our lovely planet, but the third rock from the Sun will continue to go through cycles of heating and cooling until our solar system’s shining leader explodes.
This piece of “journalism” from the BBC is a great example of what is wrong with the mainstream media and why we have such a misinformed populace – Climate change: How to talk to a denier
“Climate change denier”? “Climate denier”?! What do they even mean by that?
Anyone who would deny that there is climate change has been hiding under a very large rock since well before the last ice age. And who on Earth would deny that there is climate?
When I first read the BBC piece, I thought it was a humour column. I am still not sure it isn’t. The fact that it is written by “BBC Climate Disinformation Reporters” might be the punchline … because the article is certainly spreading disinformation about the climate.
I actually admire a lot of the journalists at the BBC, so it is very disappointing to see something so ridiculous published on their site without a “Humour” label.
Please, media friends, be better.
