The large news organizations are too focused on the pursuit of profits to realize that their irresponsible coverage and algorithms are at the heart of a deeply divided world.
It is a fool’s game to expect the mainstream news companies to change their ways and revert to producing high-quality, education-focused journalism. The focus for them will forever be on the size and ongoing attention – rather than the intelligence – of the audience.
Change must come from people like you and me. And I believe that the path to societal harmony is through intellectual empowerment.
It is difficult to hate when you understand the predicaments of others.
We are slower to anger and less likely to attack others when we understand fundamental truths about such things as COVID-19, climate change, energy transition, and geopolitical conflicts.
We are less likely to support corrupt politicians, medical officials, “environmental leaders”, and media companies when we better understand the big picture.
Currently, the bad guys are getting rich, winning elections, and waging wars with propaganda-fuelled campaigns that prey upon largely ignorant, easily persuaded populaces.
I contend that, at this time, there is nothing more important than empowering people with facts and critical context regarding the most important matters.
