BIG growth does not come without challenges

As we approach one full year (Feb. 8) of providing a uniquely fact-focused brand of journalism, BIG Media is seeing record growth in membership. Netflix is not looking over its shoulder for us yet, but the steady increase in business tells me that I was correct in my suspicion that a high-integrity media platform focused on empowering readers with knowledge – and devoid of sensationalism – could actually be successful.

As I look back at hundreds of published articles covering the biggest issues (e.g. COVID-19, vaccines, energy transition, and climate change), there is not a single topic that we covered irresponsibly or inaccurately. I challenge anyone to audit our content. If you find a material mistake or falsehood, I will gladly correct or update. We take intellectual humility very seriously at BIG Media.

Yes, I am biased – but our news coverage is not.

Now, there have been many articles that conflict with the views of our readers, and I hear about it every day from all sides of the political and social spectrums.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of being told that I am “killing people” with my coverage, and that I am a “disgusting piece of sh–“. Thankfully, I have the skin of a rhinoceros, and the level of dialogue improved after I responded with the comments in the adjacent image.

Our job at BIG Media is not to make our readers like us; it is to document truth. And sometimes the truth causes great discomfort.

Many thanks to the critics and supporters for continually inspiring us to be better!
