Senate clerks play tag team to recite Biden’s stimulus package

Senator Ron Johnson, R-Wis., speaks to the media at the U.S. Capitol

The $1.9-trillion COVID-19 relief bill proposed by U.S. President Joe Biden took a detour overnight after Wisconsin Republican Senator Ron Johnson demanded that the entire 628-page document be read aloud. Johnson claimed that all members should be aware of what is in the bill because of the tremendous cost. Senate clerks took shifts to read the bill beginning at 3:30 p.m. Eastern and finishing almost 11 hours later.
