It is a very difficult time to be an intelligent, respectful person.
I have surrounded myself with accomplished scientists and am privy to conversations that help me understand their plight.
When someone says, “What is wrong with the unvaccinated; can’t they see that the science is settled, and that it is incredibly selfish to avoid vaccination?”, my astute associates would say something like, “Anyone who understands science knows that we are all still learning about COVID-19 vaccines, and that people have many reasons to be hesitant.” https://big-media.
Thankfully, my team obliged when I asked them to pen a series of articles to help folks like me better understand what science is all about. https://big-media.ca/
When someone says, “Hey everyone – let’s go protest the vaccine passport by blocking access to hospitals!”, my benevolent brainiac buddies say things like, “I understand the desperation, but choosing hospitals as sites for protests will only widen the divide and make the vaccinated majority more likely to want the unvaccinated to suffer.”My critical-thinking cohorts recognize that the people yelling the loudest from any side of the story do not necessarily reflect the attitudes of the majority. Unfortunately, though, the belligerent blowhards dominate the dialogue on mainstream and social media. Their soundbites are more compelling than logical analysis, and media companies profit from the spirited division.
When my astute associates step into echo chambers to challenge mean-spirited, narrow-minded commentary, they are routinely bullied into submission by ill-informed but aggressive adversaries. The most intelligent, most respectful people in my network are relegated to the sidelines as the less informed volley vitriol back and forth.
It does not have to be this way. My associates and I launched BIG Media this year with the goal of giving the silent majority a voice. We give you a platform on which you will be celebrated, not attacked, for articulating viewpoints regarding the most pressing issues.
BIG Media members disagree with each other frequently, but the conversation never gets personal. There is a better way, and we encourage you to join the respectful engagement on this platform.
