BIG Media Ltd. has big plans for editorial expansion

BIG Media Ltd. is looking to add to its editorial team as we introduce new levels of accuracy and integrity to the news media industry through our unique brand of journalism.

You might be a good fit to write for us, or it could be someone in your network … but note that we have very high standards, and that journalism schooling is detrimental in most cases (Colleen Stewart, you are the only exception to date, and we love you).

We are looking to work with brilliant humans who like to educate at the highest level and in a way that a wide audience will understand. All of our writers work on a freelance basis, and most are accomplished scientists and professionals who write for us on their evenings and weekends.

We are looking for people like Laurie Weston, my BIG Media co-founder who is a renowned data scientist and entrepreneur. Laurie does not tell you what to think, but her incredible analytical and data-presentation skills help you understand what is ACTUALLY going on with the biggest of issues. She was arguably the first to document appropriately how COVID was NOT one of the leading killers of humans during the pandemic (A look back at causes of death in the first year of COVID-19), and has provided for our readers critical context on matters including climate change, glacial recession, fracking, carbon capture, and artificial intelligence.

We are looking for people like Brad Hayes, a doctor of geology, educator, and entrepreneur. Brad is the guy who reads every word of those 250-page climate reports … and actually understands it. He consistently brings us fundamental truths and logical interpretation of the latest literature and policies regarding all things energy related. Brad was named BIG Media Person of the Year in 2023 for good reason: BIG Media’s Person of the Year – Dr. Brad Hayes

We are looking for people like Kevin Burron, formerly a successful structural engineer and now a top litigator. Kevin understands scientific and legal principles at a deep level and provides us with cogent analysis of pressing issues. Just over two years ago, while trained journalists were pumping out standard “press release” journalism on the Canadian government’s invoking of the Emergencies Act, Kevin stuck to the facts and helped readers understand that the act was far from appropriate given the circumstances: The Canadian prime minster’s emergency act

We are looking for people like Lee Hunt, an accomplished geoscientist, novelist, and philosopher. Lee tackles big issues in a way that leaves people well informed and less likely to engage in divisive behaviour. His level-headed analysis helped us think well beneath the surface of matters including news media practices, vaccine effectiveness, vaccine side effects, and biomedical ethics: Mounting COVID frustration is no reason to abandon fundamental principles

We are looking for people like David Vickers, an epidemiologist and research wiz. David helps our readers understand that everything is not always as it seems in the public health realm. David has helped us understand deep flaws in the biomedical community, including how the words of scientists can be completely incongruent with the data they are supposedly summarizing: Higher rates of adverse events after mRNA vaccines interpreted poorly by study authors

We have set the bar high, but we know that there are people in various regions who would be excellent additions to our editorial team – and we want to hear from you.
