Join us in the fight against apathy

“Apathy can be overcome by enthusiasm, and enthusiasm can only be aroused by two things: first, an ideal, with takes the imagination by storm, and, second, a definite intelligible plan for carrying that ideal into practice.”

– Arnold J. Toynbee

There is no shortage of signals that North American society is spiralling toward utter chaos.

The chasm between the left and right grows wider and deeper by the day. Whether it is Democrats vs Republicans, Liberals vs Conservatives, or alarmists citing an existential crisis of anthropogenic climate change vs those who claim humans are causing nary a scratch on the surface of the natural evolution of Earth’s climate – the vitriol accelerates at a frightening pace.

And while the ill-informed on both extremes fill social media platforms with verbal diarrhea, the folks in the middle grow increasingly constipated. The buildup of crap they ingest from a steady diet of rotten media reports is causing great discomfort among the middle ground. Some have been silenced by bombastic bullies online, others find the Soap Opera that is the 21st Century rather amusing, and many have thrown up their hands in disgust. Far too many have moved in the direction of apathy.

I understand the urge to stick our heads in the sand, and let it all play out. However, the stakes are too high. Those who care about truth, integrity, and harmony need to fight apathy, and the best way to do it is through enthusiastic action.

I am not asking you to create a new channel on which intelligence is celebrated and respect is an integral part of the culture. Our platform does that.

I am not asking you to spend a bunch of your valuable time documenting truth with verifiable facts and accurate data in order to empower people with knowledge. Our editorial team does that.

I am not asking you to invest many thousands of dollars to ensure that there will always be at least one trustworthy source of news on the big issues. Our shareholders do that.

I have but one small request; if you have not yet done so, visit our sign-up page – BIG Media – and join our growing community of critical thinkers who care. To ensure lasting editorial independence and objectivity, we do not accept advertising or funding from special-interest groups. We serve only our readers, so the modest membership fees are our only source of revenue.

Our enthusiastic team is making a difference, and your assistance will help us make a bigger impact in the battle against apathy. Thanks for your time and support.
