News flash – rational people speak freely, no police called

I just had the most incredible experience.

Sipping on a tea in front of my laptop at a crowded Vancouver coffee shop, two gentlemen started talking about the hypocrisy of a society that sits around getting increasingly unfit while waiting for the next needle … which does not seem to be very effective.

As a woman approached the two men, I thought, “Uh oh, here comes a lecture from a virtuous follower of mainstream media and government messaging.”

To my surprise, however, she professed her emphatic support of their comments, and said that she and her husband have both had enough of the senseless policies related to a public health crisis that we are handling by harming public health.

It was the first time in 18 months that I felt comfortable stating my opinion in a public setting. What a beautiful feeling!

We continued to chat for some time about how preposterous it is that our governments enact policies that result in citizens becoming more obese while supposedly combatting a virus that is nothing more than a cold to healthy people but potentially devastating to those with unhealthy lungs and/or hearts. As with everything, there are exceptions, but the data says quite clearly that this is a pandemic of the physically unwell.

The tide is indeed turning. Intelligent, rational North Americans are speaking up in increasing numbers. I see it every day on social media, and today I am thrilled to see it in everyday life.

Politicians, be warned – intelligent people (and I) are fed up, and we will not stand for your ill-founded policies and divisive bully tactics.
