Don’t blame Anthony Fauci and other medical officials for all of the lies.
Don’t blame Al Gore and the other climate alarmists for being wrong about just about everything.
Don’t blame Donald Trump and other politicians for their demonstrated devotion to deceit.
These folks are just playing a game. A game that rewards them with great financial wealth and influence.
Instead, blame the news organizations that give their ridiculous statements a virtually unchallenged platform, and then, if you continue to ignore the teachings of history, point the finger at the mirror.
Leading medical officials have a long history of making proclamations and policies that benefit pharmaceutical companies and the western medical system in general.
Why would one even consider taking an official’s word at face value?
Why would someone believe a climate alarmist’s prediction of doom, when the climate catastrophe contingent has been consistently wrong for decades?
Politicians? PLEASE tell me that you don’t still believe that your side is telling the truth, and only the other guys are lying.
Back to the news groups, unless we are talking about sports scores, it is absurd for anyone to trust coverage from the mainstream media.
The system is badly broken.
Sensationalism is a ubiquitous newsroom malady, but the biggest problem is that they trust their experts to tell the story.
When Fauci et al were spreading disinformation in 2020 and 2021 at a rate that far exceeded the speed of COVID transmission, the editorial teams at the New York Times, Washington Post, Times of London, Globe & Mail, etc., did not put their statements under a microscope and test for veracity.
Nope, they just fell in line and told their readers that masking, locking down, and vaccinating were all moral imperatives. They told you that skeptical (“rational” might be a more suitable term) folks were dangerous scum who were threatening the lives of your family members.
The same principles are at play in environmental science, politics, and most other categories:
- Leaders (aka “experts”) pump out propaganda to suit their own agendas
- Incompetent or unethical news groups lap up the easy content, adding emotional triggers to the recipe in order to keep followers coming back for more
- Consumers who lack critical thinking skills eat up the lies and support the bad guys
The truth generally floats to the surface eventually, but long after the harm has been inflicted in the form of terrible policies supported by the gullible masses.
Am I saying that we should trust no one? Absolutely not.
However, trust should be earned. And when your trust is abused, there should be consequences. You should take your eyeballs and ears elsewhere.
Of course, this is a self-serving message, but a few associates and I launched BIG Media five years ago for this very reason – we literally could not find one news source on this planet that was providing critical facts and context regarding the big issues.
From 2020-22, while our media rivals were scaring the heck out of you with daily death tallies, my team was helping you understand the relative lethality of COVID-19 (Assessing the relative lethality of COVID-19: a Canadian case study), how COVID differed from the flu (COVID-19 is definitely not the flu), how science was being distorted to support false narratives (Higher rates of adverse events after mRNA vaccines interpreted poorly by study authors), fundamental principles of biomedical ethics (Mounting COVID frustration is no reason to abandon fundamental principles), and what people were actually dying from (Detailed analysis of 2021 death data reveals disturbing trends).
We also dove deep to help you better understand such things as how climate alarmism got out of control (The climate cartel – how three institutions control the narrative , The Cult of Certainty – how climate science lost its error bars), the role played by news media (Severe whether alert – Is it time for news media groups to drop the charade?), and the problem with political patronage (Political party patronage pushes people down polarizing path).
For more than five years, all we have done is report on the biggest issues with great accuracy and transparency.
Many in my network have already voted for accurate news by signing up at BIG-Media.ca. Now it is your turn.
