Top 10 lessons learned from working with incredible journalists over the last 3 years

In celebrating the third birthday of BIG Media Ltd. today, I present my …

Top 10 lessons learned from working with an incredible team of journalists over the last 3 years (title brevity is clearly not one of them):

  1. More and more people are coming to understand the importance of having access to a trustworthy, transparent, and very accurate source of news on the big issues
  1. Accomplished scientists who can write objectively and logically make ideal news journalists (An editorial team worth celebrating)
  1. Removing expert testimony and opinion from news articles translates to much more accurate journalism
  1. MANY people care deeply about the future of our planet and societal harmony, and are willing to work together to make things better
  1. Boastfulness and intellectual humility are NOT mutually exclusive (Yes, you can be boastful AND intellectually humble)
  1. Trolls disappear when you hit them with a solid dose of logic (LOGIC: proprietary solution kills trolls dead)
  1. Facts matter (Facts, in fact, are facts)
  1. When you step back from the words of politicians, medical officials, environmental leaders, and mainstream media coverage, and focus on data and verifiable facts, the truth is often staring us straight in the face – (The search for truth need not be an epic journey through time and misery)
  1. It is not easy to run a news organization that eschews advertising, sponsorship, and government funding, but it sure is gratifying … and it is the only way to ensure lasting editorial objectivity (Yours truly…and journalistically)
  1. If we stick to the high road and treat adversaries and critics with respect, we can all get along (Staying on high road is well worth the struggle)
