Rick Warters, BSc’82 (Geology), P.Geo, led an active career in oil and gas exploration and development in Canada and the US that spanned 35 years until his retirement in 2017. Rick has held several senior leadership and executive positions in including Amerada Hess, Petro-Canada, Burlington Resources, ConocoPhillips and most recently Talisman/Repsol, where he retired as the Director of North American Subsurface Development and Vice President of Geosciences Canada. Rick was the founder of the UCalgary’s Geoscience Alumni Chapter, and was instrumental in creating the endowed Geoscience Alumni Scholarship.
