Results are in – BIG Media is demolishing news media rivals

Since no one else seems to be keeping track, I decided to publish results from a competition that BIG Media Ltd. is having with the roughly 1 million other news companies on the planet.

Now, because it is difficult to monitor all million of them, it is possible that I missed a scoring play by one of those news groups. If you believe one of our rivals scored a point in any of these categories, please submit your nomination in a comment below or via direct message to the one-person panel overseeing the current scoring structure.

Here is the official scorecard with each category followed by points awarded for each side:

  1. Analysis that through responsible treatment of data and logical interpretation helps readers understand climate change and the rate of change in areas including sea level rise (Sea level is rising; should we be worried?), glacial recession (Funeral for a glacier), historical temperatures (Optimal holocene climate is in our rear-view mirror), atmospheric physics (Pacific Walker circulation and the tropospheric CO2 growth rate), global emissions (Putting global emissions in perspective), how an alarmist narrative is preserved (The climate cartel – how three institutions control the narrative), and fundamental principles of climate change (Climate change and energy: context for the great debate).

BIG Media Ltd: 1     1 million other news companies: 0

  1. Accurate coverage of the Canadian government’s invoking of the Emergencies Act in 2022 (The Canadian prime minister’s emergency act ), showing how the situation did not warrant such government action from a logical, legal perspective:

BIG Media Ltd: 1     1 million other news companies: 0

  1. Timely and extremely accurate coverage of COVID-19 showing relative lethality (Assessing the relative lethality of COVID-19: a Canadian case study), causes of death during the pandemic according to gender and age group (A look back at causes of death in the first year of COVID-19), COVID vs the flu (COVID-19 is definitely not the flu), mask effectiveness (Face the facts – diving into the science of masks), excess deaths (Detailed analysis of 2021 death data reveals disturbing trends ), vaccine effectiveness (Exploring potential biases in estimating vaccine effectiveness), adverse events following immunization (Analysis of severe events following COVID vaccine shows increased incidence of myocarditis and lymphadenopathy), and flawed scientific studies (Higher rates of adverse events after mRNA vaccines interpreted poorly by study authors) … with each article being reviewed for accuracy by a panel of four people that included two top data scientists and an epidemiologist.

BIG Media: 1     1 million other news companies: 0

  1. Produce content without sensationalism and without relying on expert testimony (often agenda-driven propaganda) to tell the story.

BIG Media: 1     1 million other news companies: 0

  1. Smart-ass editor/publisher who in order to preserve editorial objectivity eschews affiliation with any political or social movement, does not promote any person or company (excluding the media company itself), and who refuses to accept advertising or government funding.

BIG Media: 1     1 million other news companies: 0

Total score  –  BIG Media: 5    1 million other news companies: 0

There is no mercy rule in the news media game, so we will continue to trounce all competitors until one of them figures out that their business model is badly broken and conducts a massive overhaul.
